[Original material] Introduction of "Octopine," a muscle component of octopus and squid
オクトピンは、タコやイカといった頭足類の筋肉中で多量に作られる、アルギニンの誘導体です。食経験豊富な一方、成分への注目度は低く、その健康機能はほとんど不明でした。今回、筋分野を中心とするオクトピンの利用可能性と、創業より水産副産物のアップサイクルに取り組む当社が開発したオクトピン素材を初紹介します。
Octopine is an arginine derivative produced in large amounts in the muscle tissue of cephalopods such as octopus and squid. Despite a long history of dietary consumption, the component itself has received little attention, and its health benefits remained largely unknown. For the first time, we present the potential applications of octopine—primarily in the muscle health field—alongside the octopine ingredient developed by our company, which has engaged in upcycling seafood by-products since its founding.
